Catherine and Bob Hilliard host Triumph Over Kids Cancer (TOKC) Family Pool Party
Corpus Christi, TX – May 20, 2023
The Triumph Over Kids Cancer Foundation (“TOKC”) was started by James A. Ragan in 2007, a 14-year-old local boy who was battling cancer himself. The foundation is dedicated to improving the lives of children with cancer by raising their spirits, raising the public’s awareness, and funding research to improve the treatment and survivability of pediatric cancers.
This weekend marks the 16th Annual TOGA Party, along with a golf tournament, VIP party, and, adding to the fun: a family pool party for the kids and their families, hosted by Catherine and Bob Hilliard.
Long-time supporters of TOKC, Hilliard’s son, Alex, was close friends with James.
At times, given the crazy speed of each moment in our lives, we all move thru this world forgetting that nothing is promised, nothing is guaranteed—all the way down to our single most precious possession: our children and their health.
“Today, as Catherine and I host a BBQ and swim party for this beautiful group of kids and their families, we know it will be a tapestry of feelings wrapped in a cotton candy moment: poignant, melancholy, happy, sad, funny, light-hearted, heart-breaking. Those who have heard the knock at the door, when cancer unexpectedly comes calling, are more finely tuned into this truth—with Catherine’s brilliant eye for detail and her loving dream that this day is all about creating a once-in-a-lifetime memory for these kids and their families, we hope to give them all one fantastic Saturday,” said Hilliard.
With just 4 percent of federal funding going to pediatric cancer research, TOKC has made it its mission to not only support funding initiatives but bring joy and happiness to the daily lives of children battling cancer.
