Numerous Injuries Reported Following Tank Fire at Magellan Plant

Several people have sustained serious personal injuries following a tank explosion near Magellan’s Corpus Christi’s oil refinery. While the extent of all of the injuries is currently unknown, several burn injuries have been reported and at least one person has been life flighted to San Antonio.

The blast occurred early Saturday morning, and has now been extinguished. According to a spokesperson, the Magellan Storage Facility explosion occurred when a tank was being cleaned.

At least six people have been taken to the hospital for treatment.

The Magellan tank fire remains under investigation.

Official are asking those in the area to shelter in place.
