Michael Orth

Michael is a board-certified personal injury trial lawyer with nearly a decade of experience representing injured Texans and their families in courtrooms across South Texas. Although born and raised in Dallas, Michael began moving towards the Texas Gulf Coast after his high school graduation.  In 2007, he earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Political Science from Texas A&M University in College Station.  He then attended the University of Houston Law Center, earning his Juris Doctorate in 2011.

During law school, Michael served as a Senior Articles Editor for the Houston Journal of International Law, and clerked full-time at one of the five Houston law firms that represented the State of Texas against Big Tobacco in 1995.  At this firm, Michael gained immeasurable experience, working on a diverse docket of personal injury cases, from crane collapses and oil field injuries to bus rollovers and sexual assault cases. More importantly, he learned that the law could be used to help those in need, and could be used to do a lot of good in peoples’ lives.

After his law school graduation, Michael moved to South Padre Island to practice personal injury law in the Rio Grande Valley, helping South Texans who had been injured and wronged by large corporations, and who were often treated dishonestly and deceptively by the insurance companies who back those corporations.  Michael’s relentless pursuit of justice on behalf of his clients led him to the courtroom often, where he tried nearly 20 cases to verdict in counties across South Texas, and consistently obtained verdicts significantly higher than the insurance company’s final offer.  While practicing law in the Valley, Michael obtained tens of millions of dollars in settlements and verdicts for his clients all across Texas.

Michael’s persistence and hard work resulted in him becoming Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.  To become board certified in personal injury trial law, lawyers must practice personal injury trial law almost exclusively, have extensive and successful personal injury trial experience, and pass a written specialization exam demonstrating superior competency and knowledge in personal injury law.

Michael is married to Katlyn, and has 2 young daughters, Kathleen and Mary Louise.
