Matthew S. Scutt is the Chief Operating Officer of Hilliard Martinez Gonzales LLP. Matthew brings over 20 years of combined business and legal experience. After graduating cum laude from Butler University where he studied Chemistry and Spanish, he started his career as an analytical chemist. Matthew shifted from the laboratory environment into the sales and marketing divisions of Fortune 500 companies including AT&T, Pfizer and AstraZeneca.
Matthew earned his MBA from Indiana Wesleyan University while working for Pfizer. After working for AstraZeneca, he continued his studies earning his law degree with an Intellectual Property Patent Track Specialization from the University of Illinois Chicago John Marshall Law School. He is a registered Patent Attorney with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
Matthew has spent the last decade in leadership roles in personal injury firms in Texas. He has specific experience handling rapid firm growth. His former training in multiple medical and therapeutic areas has equipped him to understand the intersection between law and medicine. As a practicing attorney, he has handled personal injury matters from intake to trial. He enjoys the direct experience of working with clients to help them in the most difficult times.
Matthew and his wife Jessica have four active boys. They enjoy outdoor activities and working with Texas Children’s Hospital where their sons Tucker, a cancer survivor and Parker, a heart defect warrior, were both treated.
