A TEXAS LAW FIRM with a NATIONAL REPUTATION for RELENTLESSLY PURSUING JUSTICE.

EMILY HILLIARD

Background

Emily Hilliard’s trailblazing spirit, along with her ‘dig in and fight mentality,’ add tremendous value to our team. Her courageous empathy complements her fierce interest in justice – which she brings to each case she works on.

Emily Hilliard earned her license to practice law in the state of Texas in November 2014. Since becoming licensed, Ms. Hilliard has joined the mass-tort litigation division of Hilliard Law and is actively focusing on the ongoing multi-district litigation involving General Motors. Notably, Ms. Hilliard recently assisted in the firm’s successful effort to clear the record of an innocent Texas woman held accountable for the death of her fiancé in the 2007 crash of a Saturn Ion, the cause of which was a faulty ignition switch.

Ms. Hilliard earned her Juris Doctor from South Texas College of Law in Houston, Texas in May 2014 where she received Dean’s List honors in 2011, 2012, & 2013. While at South Texas College of Law, Ms. Hilliard wrote for the school newspaper “Annotations” as a weekly columnist and went on to become the assistant editor-in-chief during her second year. During her first semester Ms. Hilliard was named as one of four sectional first year representatives for the South Texas College of Law Board of Advocates. In 2012 she was a quarter-finalist in the South Texas Summer Academy Mock Trial Challenge. During her second year she was named to the nationally acclaimed South Texas College of Law varsity Mock Trial Program and competed through the duration of her time at South Texas.

Before going to law school Ms. Hilliard attended Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas on an academic scholarship, earning Dean’s List honors in 2009, 2010, & 2011. While at Trinity University, Ms. Hilliard spent three years as Judicial Board Member of the Gamma Chi Delta sorority and was named publicity chair of the University’s ‘College Democrats’ Club.

At Trinity, Ms. Hilliard played her full four years of NCAA eligibility on the varsity volleyball team. In 2007 she received the ‘most improved player of the year’ award. As a three year starting player, she received the ‘top hustler’ award in 2008, 2009, and 2010. In 2008 she was named to the SCAC All-Conference Academic Second Team, and in 2009 and 2010 she received All-Conference Academic First Team honors. In 2007 and 2008 she contributed to the team’s 14th and 15th Conference Championships. In 2009 was a catalyst in the team’s Regional Championship win in the NCAA Round of 16, taking them to the Elite Eight in the NCAA Tournament. In 2010, she was voted captain of the team for her final NCAA season and rose to the 13th spot on the school’s record for “service aces in a single career.”

Ms. Hilliard graduated from Trinity University in 2011, earning her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, with a double minor in English, and French.

Ms. Hilliard was born and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas where she graduated in the top 7% of her class from Richard King High School with several athletic and academic honors. Ms. Hilliard was named to the National Juniors Honor Society and played for the both the varsity volleyball and varsity tennis teams during her time at King. She received First Team All-District and First Team All-South Texas Volleyball honors in both 2006 and 2007. In 2006 she was also named the All South Texas Defensive Player of the Year. In 2007 she was named the All-South Texas Blocker of the Year, the All-Metro Defensive Player of the Year and voted as the Most Valuable Player for her senior season.
