Sopanha Anderson is an attorney within the Medical Malpractice / Nursing Home Neglect division of HMG.  As the daughter of immigrants who were able to escape political genocide, a deep sense of justice was steeped into her upbringing at a very young age.  Her family’s history and a strong appreciation of the role of the lawyer in our justice system propelled her to seek this profession as a means to protect those who have been wronged and need a voice.  Being a part of the HMG family helps her to do exactly that: aggressively advocate on behalf of those who cannot be heard.

A graduate of the University of St. Thomas School of Law in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Sopanha was a Dean’s Scholar recipient as well as a regional finalist of the Giles Rich Intellectual Property Moot Court Competition.  While earning her Juris Doctorate, she also participated in the Elder Law Clinic of the Interprofessional Center for Counseling and Legal services where she represented senior clients and persons with disabilities in cases involving guardianship and conservatorship.  Sopanha also served as a summer law clerk for the Superior Court of Skagit County in Mount Vernon, Washington.  More recently, she has volunteered her time as a trained day-of-trial and jail re-entry mediator, Guardian ad Litem as well as with the Navy Marine Corps Relief Society.

Prior to law school, Sopanha earned her political science degree from the University of Minnesota and worked as a U.S. Congressional staffer for the late Honorable Martin Olav Sabo in Washington, D.C.  Outside of work, Sopanha enjoys spending time with her four young children and her U.S. Navy pilot husband.
